Villa Splendido

The villa Splendido is the height of elegance and exotic luxury, overlooking the fifth hole of La Romana Country Club’s private golf course with sweeping views of the Caribbean and the Marina. Its location, while just minutes from Casa de Campo’s beach, marina, and many activities, is a peaceful haven. Splendido is set on two acres of flowering trees, gardens and rolling hills...all meticulously groomed by your personal staff. Ocean breezes waft through constantly and keep you cool in all season. Altos de Chavon, a recreation of a majestic 16th century Spanish Colonial village, is a sight to behold beyond the fairway vista. Splendido has been decorated by a top New York designer with exceptional wood pieces from Bali and Thailand, giving the villa a rich East Asian theme. Art objects and paintings compliment Splendido's opulent but understated atmosphere. A mood of complete serenity greets you as step into an atrium surrounded by stone columns and a unique fountain fabricated with coral stone and a lava stone sculpture from Asia. Once inside, the romantic Master Suite has a four-poster King-Sized Bamboo bed and an enchanting and private walled Asian garden with your own Hot Tub, alfresco shower and a pair of teak cushioned chaises. The marble bathroom has a glass walled shower, additional jacuzzi and double sinks. The Master suite's breathtaking screened verandah is surrounded by the beauty, sights, and sounds of the Caribbean. The three additional guest bedrooms have meticulously crafted mahagony detailing of the closets, built-ins and louvered doors, which open on to a terrace shaded by a pergola with flowering vines. Each has an ensuite marble tub/shower, double sinks and abundant storage cabinets. The exquisite fabrics in the bedrooms are all from New York’s top interior design showrooms. An additional and unique sleeping arrangement is also available in the charming library, housing of a vast array of reading material and a deluxe sofa that converts into a pull-out Queen bed. The library also has its own full bathroom with alfresco shower. Artwork adorns the library's walls. The beautiful coral walls make this large room feel cozy and provides another great entertaining area. Dining areas include a large seating area for fourteen with an outstanding 12' long Balinese teak table and chairs, a poolside table for eight under a pergola with exotic flowering vines and additional seating for eight under a covered terrace. Also shaded under the eaves of this enormous terrace are four luxurious cushioned chaises and a living area complete with two soft couches and dark-wood carved coffee table. There is an elegant coral stone bar with cushioned wrought iron stools and a large Balinese carved mirror that reflects the breathtaking ocean views. This elegant covered extension to Splendido looks through pillared columns to the villa’s pool and Jacuzzi. A spacious coral stone deck surrounds the pool, offering plenty of room for guests to enjoy the serenity of the Caribbean sun or share a meal under an umbrella. The manicured lawns of La Romana’s fifth fairway lie just beyond. The vast Living Room has a cathedral ceiling from which hangs a huge custom-made copper lantern, as well as indirect lighting which highlights the mahagony ceiling high above. There are two 10’ lush sofas around a massive antique teak coffee table, a pair of carved teak lounge chairs and a teak game table and chairs for your after dinner board games. A collection of porcelains and art objects are dsiplayed in a 9’ high teak cabinet with glass doors. There is a monumental Terrence Lanoue oil painting that hangs above a large teak Chinese console. The enormous state of the art kitchen has granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances throughout. There is a separate service kitchen, servants rooms and laundry behind the kitchen. There is an additional black marble and coral stone powder room in the atrium. Splendido is fortunate to have an English speaking houseman and cook as part of team of servants.
